About Us

CDC Pool remodeling was born in 1990 when Roger and Chris teamed up to solve a problem they saw in the Arizona pool market. Back then pool remodeling was an afterthought for pool contractors that focused on new pool construction and their handful of large developer customers. You can imagine how unimportant your one-off project was!

We specialize in remodeling and resurfacing pools and built our company, from the ground up, for this purpose. This means-

You need better people on your crews because we uncover many shortcuts and "surprises" that must be addressed. With just a few exceptions we have our own resurfacing, plumbing, tile, and chip-out crews. Some of our guys are second-generation plasterers and tile setters.

We have more superintendents in the field than contractors twice our size. They are experienced troubleshooters who support our crews. And that includes our owners. We are now licensed in Arizona, Nevada, and California.

Quality in Pool Remodeling

Quality is hard. Everybody talks about it, every pool contractor tells you they care about it. But quality is hard. It’s something we work at every day, on every project. In the video below Chris talks about how we didn't just remodel a pool, but how we fixed several structural problems. More on "smaller" problems that can turn into bigger ones.

We're not perfect, and we don't always satisfy each item below, but you should expect the following things from the remodeling contractor you select:

  • You should get all your questions answered by the estimator before you buy.
  • You should feel like the estimator is there to serve you, not sell you.
  • Your pool contractor should tell you what to expect during the project.
  • You should see a superintendent during your project, or at least communicate with them.
  • It would be nice if the owners of the company were in the field, close to the work, in your backyard, not in their offices staring at their computers.
  • You ought to be able to get someone out after the project’s complete to fix any little stuff without twisting arms (this is major construction).
  • You ought to be happy, not just satisfied, but happy, after the job is complete.

We’re Green…

This isn’t something we’re giving lip service to. Our building in Chandler was the city’s first commercial enterprise to use a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system. At the time it was the largest of any kind in Chandler. This supplies a good deal of our electric energy.

We buy the balance of our electricity through SRP’s EarthWise Energy program. The net result: all our electric consumption is from green, renewable sources, with much of it being produced right up there on our roof. That’s Chico Hunter, SRP’s EarthWise Program Manager, with Roger Runyon, one of CDC’s owners. And from skylights to cardboard compacting, we're doing our part.

Your Estimators...

Jerry H

I have been with CDC pools since January 2008. I started as a Drain Tech and worked my way up to the position I have now.

Rafael R

Rafael made Arizona his new home 15 years ago. When Rafael first started with us he had no knowledge of the industry but did have an undeniable spark.

Cassie S.

I started working in the pool business scheduling technicians for a small service and repair company, and immediately fell in love with the industry!

Jason C

Jason has been with us for about one year, but has been in construction for 15+ years.

Lee M.

Lee moved to the Valley with his family when he was ten – not quite a native, but, like many of us, almost! He began his career in the pool industry with one of the larger new pool contractors a couple decades ago. There he discovered he enjoyed and was good at helping people imagine what type of pool they wanted in their backyard, and presenting the options in a professional, logical manner.

Lee credits his dad, who is equal parts engineer and artist, for instilling in him a creative, yet practical approach to life. Which has served Lee and his customers well (many whom have become close friends).

When he’s not in Valley backyards thinking about remodeling projects you can find him on the golf course or with his wife throwing the frisbee (and throwing and throwing and throwing…) for their two rescue dogs. Their fur babies come from the same rescue Lee and his wife happily give their time and resources to support. Just ask him!
